BABEL environmental newsletter

independent study senior project, Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado

“Sherri’s internship position was Editor and founder of our department’s first newsletter/journal. She worked very closely with myself and the chair of the department to launch this new publication. Sherri exhibited a very high degree of professionalism and leadership in the process of publishing five issues. In addition to writing many articles and sections of the newsletter herself, she also inspired a number of other students to contribute. Sherri edited, designed and produced the entire publication. She consistently delivered a very high quality product with a minimum of resources. Her dedication and work on this project demonstrated a high level of maturity and initiative.”—Mark Wilding, former Environmental Studies Department Administrator, Naropa University

“This project required perseverance, imagination, patience, skillful handling of diverse personalities, the ability to work effectively in cramped quarters with hub-bub all around, and considerable knowledge about current environmental issues.”—Forrest Ketchin, Chair, Environmental Studies Department, Naropa University

Babel, the quarterly journal for Naropa, was created, edited and run by Sherri. This project required vision, leadership and teamwork. I feel the journal provides its audience with thoughtful and relevant articles. Sherri’s writing, in particular, has a sense of clarity and humanity. This project’s huge success is primarily due to her work ethic and dedication.”—Christine Kinsey, 4th/5th grade teacher, Fort Collins, Colorado
