Suffolk Scoop

as an instructor for Journalism I and Journalism II courses at Suffolk University, I developed this online newspaper for students to gain experience and confidence

Students worked through drafts of articles, served as peer editors, and found artwork to accompany their stories.

They then learned how to post stories to this online newspaper, work with text and images in the WordPress template, and become comfortable with the tools and features of the blog.

The Suffolk Scoop was an effective mechanism to teach journalism, exemplifying how the field is changing and the skills and awareness needed to compete in the industry today.

Students were able to present their work to the public, see their bylines, respond to readers commenting on their articles, and practice thinking visually about storytelling.
