BABEL

as an undergraduate at Naropa University, I started a newsletter for the Environmental Studies Dept

Conceived and initiated as an independent study project, I produced five issues of BABEL newsletter during my senior year. Developed for environmental studies students and faculty at Naropa University, BABEL grew into the official newsletter for the department and a marketing tool for the university, sent out by the Admissions Office to prospective students.

The project required soliciting fellow students as writers, photographers, poets, and reporters. I worked with faculty members on the title and content ideas. It was my responsibility to organize each issue, acquire and edit submissions, design the pages, and produce the publication.  I learned QuarkXPress, gained management and production skills, and developed an increasing level of editorial judgment from the first to last issue.
