BABEL

Founding editor of Environmental Studies Dept newsletter

Conceived and initiated as an independent study project, I produced five issues of BABEL newsletter during my senior year. Developed for environmental studies students and faculty at Naropa University in Boulder, CO, BABEL grew into the official newsletter for the department and became a marketing tool for the university, sent out by the Admissions Office to prospective students.

The project required soliciting fellow students as writers, photographers, poets, and reporters. I worked with faculty members on the title and content ideas. I organized each issue, acquired and edited submissions, designed the pages, and produced the publication.  I learned QuarkXPress, gained management and production skills, and developed an increasing level of editorial judgment from the first to last issue.
