promoted to publications manager from writer-editor role
During the four years I worked at the Education Alliance, I was assigned to the Secondary School Redesign team, working with a talented group of education researchers and high school reform experts. I began as a writer-editor and was promoted twice, leading to the position of publications manager in which I oversaw a publications staff of seven writers and designers, and a deliverables list of 30 projects.
As an editor, my role was to help develop products for schools to use in their classrooms and reform efforts. This position was part of a five-year program funded by a US Department of Education Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) grant. Brown University was one of 10 sites selected across the nation to receive the REL grant, and held it for two consecutive five-year cycles.
Below are some of the editing projects I was assigned:
Meeting the Literacy Development Needs of Adolescent English Language Learners, Part 1
Meeting the Literacy Development Needs of Adolescent English Language Learners, Part 2
Data Use in Urban High Schools
Changing Systems to Personalize Learning (5-part series)
