background
For nearly 15 years, I’ve put my writing, editing, marketing and project management skills to work in the areas of conservation, education and publishing. I combined degrees in environmental studies/science with communications and writing to become an informed journalist about these topics, and studied an at international center for ecological thinking to learn the common and competing values about the environment from around the world. These experiences have both broadened my perspective as a communicator and offered rich opportunities to engage in meaningful work.
recent projects
I conceptualized and launched an annual college magazine in 2007 and built a marketing platform to support it consisting of web pages, a digital edition, a magazine blog, a facebook fan page, a twitter account, a Flickr photostream, and email marketing efforts. These have all been firsts for the college among the five titles published by the school. The first two issues won 12 national awards for design and editorial excellence.
work for hire
I have an excellent track record as an accomplished communicator and publisher and can successfully take ideas from concept to completion. I have strong entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills as well as creative vision, and can develop and produce a wide array of top-quality materials that help my clients stand out from the rest. I would be happy to discuss your project with you.
areas of interest
There are particular research areas that have long been important to me: poverty, the environment, sustainable development, climate change, public health, access to clean water, social justice, renewable energy, cross-cultural understanding, to name a few. My contribution toward progress in these areas lies primarily in print and online publishing—raising awareness through exploring and presenting new ideas and information.
