Forest Notes magazine writing

During a graduate school internship at the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire’s Forests in Concord, NH, I wrote for the association magazine, Forest Notes.

One assignment was a series of articles on communities taking control of their futures, which included stories about Derry, NH and its fight back against poorly planned development; Lebanon, NH setting aside land for open space in spite of its rapid growth; and the Bear-Paw Regional Greenways, a land trust that created wildlife corridors, or “greenways,” linking the seven neighboring towns of Epsom, Northwood, Strafford, Deerfield, Nottingham, Candia, and Raymond.

For another assignment I reviewed three summer guidebooks: New Hampshire Wildlife Viewing Guide; Natural Wonders of New Hampshire – A Guide to Parks, Preserves & Wild Places; and The Smithsonian Guides to Natural America Northern New England: Vermont – New Hampshire – Maine.
