IMAGINE, the third issue of Suffolk Arts+Sciences magazine, has just been released. In my third year as editor of the annual magazine, I introduced two new departments with this issue: On Stage and Science.
On Stage showcases the year’s main theatre production, Blood Wedding, and the professional achievements of theatre department faculty and staff.
The Science pages provide an overview of the science departments at Suffolk, and spotlight student research in the chemistry and biochemistry department.
Regular departments include From 41 Temple, Students Today, The Faculty, New on the Hill, The Gallery, After College, and Parting Thought, which this year is a letter written by alumna Tracey Jean Boisseau BA ’85 about the late Senator Ted Kennedy who, through his commitment to the mentally handicapped, helped her younger brother Alan be eligible for training programs and state-sponsored aid.
Feature articles in this issue tell the story of the ‘It Says Love‘ t-shirt company, Zamforia, founded by alumni Jonathan Mendez and his sister Olivia Chamberland; spotlight the community activism and political empowerment work of government professor Teri Fair in ‘Urban Activist‘; bring outer space to the classroom in ‘Beyond the Milky Way‘; and travel the inside track to power politics in ‘Capital City Classroom.’
